FWB Park Brown are pleased to announce we have recently advised on the following appointments.  It is particularly interesting that most of these searches have both started and competed during the various phases of lockdown and are great examples of a new and efficient way of working. Stay well.

David McCorquodale has joined CJ Lang as a Non Executive Director.  Having celebrated its centenary just two years ago, it is Scotland’s largest independent retailing and distribution company and remains family owned. David is a former UK Head of Retail with KPMG.

James Donaldson & Sons is a family of businesses specialising in the processing, manufacturing, merchanting and distribution of timber and associated building products. Founded in 1860 it is still owned by Donaldson family and is now a major player in its sector. Arlene Cairns has been appointed as CFO and joins from Aviva where she led global finance operations . She succeeds Andrew Donaldson who has taken on the role of CEO following the retirement of his father, Neil.

One of Scotland’s best known businesses, Walker’s Shortbread, has appointed Sarah Macaulay as its new Head of Marketing. She is formerly of Beam Suntory, William Grant & Sons and Scottish & Newcastle plc.

Baxters Food Group, one of Scotland’s most iconic businesses, continues to grow its operations internationally across North America, Europe and Australia.  Jennifer McVey joins in the new role of Head of Internal Audit, having performed a similar role for C&C plc.  Craig Nicholls, former Director, EMEA Treasury at Cigna also joins as Interim Group Treasury Manager.

Founded in 1983 in Edinburgh, the Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottles and sells single cask malt whisky. It purchases individual casks from distilleries both in Scotland and throughout the world, bottles them under its own brand name and retails directly to its members. As part of its continued expansion and growth opportunities, Andrew Dane has been appointed as Financial Director. He joins from Argent Energy and was previously with KPMG.

PE-backed Dobbies Garden Centres, the UK market leader in its sector, has recruited Grant East as Interim Head of Financial Planning & Analysis. He was previously Head of Corporate Finance & Strategy Development for John Menzies plc.

Leading UK Telecommunications Network Provider and ISP, PE-backed Commsworld, has appointed Charles Quinn as its new Chief Commercial Officer. He brings a wealth of experience to the role including senior roles with technology giants, Microsoft, Dell and Hewlett-Packard.

Godfrey Ryan has joined Transport2 as Chief Executive Officer. Headquartered in Maidenhead and backed by Souter Investments and Nickleby Capital, Transport2 is the UK’s leading shared transport service provider, bringing together game-changing technology and a greener vision to change the way people travel. He joins from Delegate Group where he was Chief Commercial Officer, having previously worked with ipan, AerData, Vodafone and Heineken.

Glenn Corr is the new Chief Operating Officer of TauRx, a leader in Alzheimer’s research, set up with a mission to discover, develop and commercialise innovative products for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of neurodegenerative disorders.  Since its inception, it has raised almost US$700m to fund its research and development activity and its lead product, LMTX®, is now in late-stage clinical development for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. He was formerly with Enquest.

Matthew Gordon is the new CEO of Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel operator North Star Shipping, replacing Callum Bruce who retires after 34 years with the business.  He joins North Star from Unique Group and brings with him 24 years’ experience in the sector, having previously held senior positions with Atlantic Offshore, Viking Seatech and Subsea 7.

Linton Investments, the investment vehicle of the Ferguson family, has interests across a number of different sectors. As part of its continued growth, Nicki Sturzaker has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications. She was formerly a Director of Indigo PR and The Big Partnership.

Headquartered in Aberdeen and part of Linton Investments (see above), Centrifuges Unlimited is the partner of choice for fluid separation and mud cooling applications. In a newly created role to lead its Marketing function, Samantha Breese has been appointed. Previously she was VP Marketing for Wood.

Salvesen Mindroom Centre is an independent Scottish Charity dedicated to supporting children, young people and their families who live with all types of learning difficulty.  Its purpose is to bring together the research capabilities of the Salvesen Mindroom Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh (Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences), the clinical capacity of the NHS and the outreach expertise of a highly specialist team of employees, to support, inform and empower those living with learning difficulties. We were delighted to support the appointment of a new CEO in Alyson Miller, who was previously the Head of Fundraising. Also, Kirsty Lynagh, Chief People Officer, Nucleus Financial Group plc and Catherine Murphy, Head of Consumer Applications at Edrington, have both joined the newly formed Circle – an Advisory Group to the Charity.

Global Salmon farming business Mowi, formerly known as Marine Harvest, has appointed Stephen O’Neill as Head of Health & Safety with responsibility spanning its Farming and Consumer Products businesses in Scotland.  He joins from Nalco Champion, an Ecolab Company.

Stephen Cameron is the new Group Financial Controller of Enva,  a leading waste management, recycling and resource recovery business based in the UK and Ireland and with a Head Office near Paisley. It was acquired by Exponent Private Equity from DCC Plc in 2017 and since then it has grown significantly via a number of strategic acquisitions.  He joined from Robertson Group and is formerly of Biffa and PWC including through several acquisitions in the specialist waster sector.

A.C. Whyte is a quality focused main contractor in the major refurbishment of low and high rise occupied social housing for Local Authorities and Housing Associations across Scotland and the UK. It is now of a scale and complexity that has created the opportunity to appoint an HR professional to join the Senior Management Team.  Stephanie Connor has subsequently joined as Head of HR from Peter Vardy, where she was Regional HR Manager.

Established in 1956, T&N Gilmartin is a 3rd generation family owned Fife-based contracting firm that specialises in landscaping, civil engineering, grounds maintenance, lighting, and surfacing. Keith McDonald has been appointed as Contracts Manager, joining from Fluor Corporation.
