Martin Gilbert, former Vice Chair of Standard Life Aberdeen, has been announced as the new Chair of Aberdeen-based research and technology organisation, the Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC).

Martin co-founded Aberdeen Asset Management in 1983 and oversaw its £11bn merger with Standard Life in 2017. He stepped down from the board of Standard Life Aberdeen last month and will continue to work with the group until September this year.

Commenting on the appointment John Cameron said: “We were delighted to have advised the OGTC on the appointment of Martin Gilbert. Martin retains strong ties to Aberdeen and his experience and strategic leadership will be crucial to the OGTC as it strives to support the industry’s post Covid-19 recovery, through the acceleration of technology, to help deliver a Net Zero North Sea.”
