The Society of Petroleum Engineers “SPE” is a not-for-profit professional organisation whose mission is to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources and related technologies for the public benefit and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.

In 1957, the organisation was officially founded as SPE, a constituent society of the American Institute of Mining (AIME).  SPE became a separately incorporated organisation in 1985.

The organisation offers membership, events, publications, training and resources for the worldwide oil & gas community.  With offices across the globe, it is a place for all of today’s industry professionals, regardless of course of study.

More than 158,000 members in 143 countries participate in 203 sections and 382 student chapters.  SPE’s membership includes more than 73,000 student members.

The Assistant Director Sales, Americas is responsible for the development of sales strategies for the organisation’s conferences, exhibitions and sponsorship that deliver revenue at or above targets. The holder of this position is also responsible for the overall organisation, planning, and management of the Americas exhibition and sponsorship sales team.

This role will drive a positive leadership culture through the development and implementation of strong Sales and Business Development initiatives and programs that 1) enable the growth of the organisation 2) develop employees and teams with a customer service focus and 3) drive ownership and accountability at all levels.

This role is based in Houston, TX and may require up to 50% travel within the USA.
