Biologics Edinburgh Site Lead

Within Charles River, the Biologics Group has over 50 years of experience and proven regulatory expertise, addressing challenging projects for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Charles River seek to appoint an experienced Site Lead for the Biologics Group site initially located in Tranent, near Edinburgh, Scotland.  The activities are transferring to a new site at Riccarton, near Edinburgh, in 2019.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Analytical Services, this role will be responsible as a line manager for approximately 60 local staff overseeing daily operations, recruitment, budgets, performance planning and development.  Additionally, the Site Lead will assist the Senior Director to review and decide with department managers on realistic yet challenging budgets for the Biologics departments and monitor performance against target.  As part of this directive, the Site Lead will be involved with client communication, sales coordination, contract oversight and, quality of work in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree equivalent in biological science, chemistry, or related discipline
  • Significant laboratory management experience, preferably in the biopharmaceutical/contract industry
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above

This role will initially be based in Tranent however at some point in 2019 the role will move to Heriot Watt University Research Park, candidates should be in a commutable distance to Tranent/Riccarton or be willing to relocate.
