Chair

About the role

Established in 2016, the Oil and Gas Technology Centre’s (OGTC) vision is to be the ‘go to’ world-class technology centre for adapting, developing and deploying technology for the oil and gas industry.  In 2019, the OGTC Board expanded its strategy to develop technologies to enable the UK North Sea to become the first “net zero” hydrocarbon basin in the world. Through the work delivered by our Solution Centres, National Centres and Accelerator Programme the OGTC is committed to unlocking the full potential from the UK North Sea, growing a diversified energy supply chain and inspiring a culture of innovation to deliver “net zero” solutions.

To date we have co-invested £141 million across 220 projects, with 90 field trials completed, planned or underway. From innovative seismic databases that improve exploration performance, through to ground-breaking marine turbines for generating subsea power – these transformative technologies are moving the dial on North Sea challenges.

Following the conclusion and successful tenure of the current Chair, the OGTC is looking to appoint a new Chair to continue to provide collegiate leadership to the Board and play a vital role in steering the strategic direction of the OGTC. The Chair will be committed to supporting the organisation’s objective to develop new technologies to enable the UK Continental Shelf to become the world’s first “net zero” hydrocarbon basin, anchoring & diversifying the supply chain in the UK and creating a culture of innovation. Additionally, the Chair will support the Chief Executive in acting as a public ambassador and ‘face’ of the OGTC at showcase events and high-profile visits to the centre. The Chair also plays a key role in supporting and enabling the CEO in the development of the OGTC’s strategy and thought leadership activities.

The expected time commitment of the post will be approximately 15 days per annum.
