About the role

As a modern social enterprise and Scottish charity, Transition Extreme uses urban sports and their cultures to attract and engage the local youth population, supporting and assisting children and young people in making positive life transitions. The “Extreme Sports Centre”, now attracts over 80,000 visits per annum, provides year-round indoor & outdoor facilities including; rock climbing, a high ropes course, skatepark, martial arts facilities, creative arts zone and cafe/community facilities.

Externally, the Chief Executive will develop and maintain a high profile for Transition Extreme, continuing positive engagement with key existing stakeholders and building productive and long-term relationships with potential strategic partners and funders. Internally, the post-holder will provide strategic and inspirational leadership and sound financial management, ensuring strong governance and a close working and reporting relationship with the board.

Candidates for this role will be established leaders with a proven track record of achievement in operational and commercial activities carrying full P&L responsibility, and experienced in the management and direction of an operationally intensive customer orientated business. Commercially astute with proven ability in planning, budgeting and forecasting, candidates will be relationship builders, who enjoy the strategic aspects of business, but truly thrive on being ‘hands on’, leading a small team without significant support infrastructure. This role will appeal to energetic and driven individuals with a passion for adventure sports seeking the opportunity to make a difference in an organisation with a clear social purpose.
