Chief Operating Officer – Retail

Our client is a leading multiple retailer, with a head office in Glasgow and retail operations throughout the UK. We are working closely with this business to help appoint a Chief Operating Officer, reporting directly to the Managing Director, to take responsibility for driving business performance, profitability and optimising daily operating activities.

The COO will be expected to provide leadership, strategy and direction across all areas of the business. The successful candidate will be able to quickly understand the key drivers of the business and use his or her experience to implement structure and process, drive best practice and fully embed a culture of continual improvement and excellence across retail operations and supporting functions.

The business has ambitious growth plans and will require the COO to bring ideas and creativity to support the MD in the development and implementation of the business and people strategy, including the use of digital and technology to future proof the business and drive significant growth in this area.

Candidates are likely to be working currently in an operational leadership role, and display excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, positivity and business acumen. In addition to the relevant practical experience, an MBA qualification will be highly desirable. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of operational improvement, change and leadership, ideally in a luxury retail environment.
