Director – Digital & Entrepreneurial

Opportunity North East (ONE) is a private sector-led body that facilitates and invests in 5 key sectors (food, drink and agriculture; life sciences; oil, gas and energy; tourism; and digital) to support the sustainability of the North East of Scotland. The Wood Foundation has committed to funding the body over a 10-year period for £62 million and Sir Ian Wood is Chairman of the Board. ONE works in partnership with the private and public sectors to identify, develop and deliver transformational programmes and projects at pace.

ONE Digital & Entrepreneurship Board was established in 2017 with the objective to help key industries embrace digital solutions to achieve growth, support company creation and scale-up. One of the notable successes to date in this area, is the establishment of a permanent hub in Aberdeen for digital and entrepreneurship activity in partnership with CodeBase, the UK’s largest tech business incubator. The Tech Hub opened in June 2019 and provides hot-desking, co-working and office spaces for early stage digital companies. Programmes to support company creation and growth are also delivered in the Hub which will create a unique environment and ecosystem for the sector and community.

ONE is looking to appoint a Director – Digital & Entrepreneurial to build on this success. The incumbent will be responsible for spearheading the development of a digital cluster in the North East and delivering the support required for digital company creation, scale up and growth.

This role requires an individual with an in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of leading digital transformation within one of the five key sectors. We are looking for someone with excellent project management skills, an ability to credibly present/communicate to the sector and a willingness to engage with businesses and develop strong relationships.
