Director, National Subsea Centre (NSC)

About the role

Robert Gordon University and the Oil & Gas Technology Centre are partnering to create the National Subsea Centre, a multi-million-pound Centre of Excellence for Subsea Technology. The NSC will harness the University’s academic expertise, research capability and facilities to establish a world-class research and development centre focused on tackling the underwater challenges faced by industry.

In close collaboration with Industry Partners, the NSC aims to support the delivery of the industry’s Vision 2035 and the drive towards a net zero basin through the development of cost effective, faster, smarter and cleaner technology that can be developed with, and deployed across, the industry.

Funded by Robert Gordon University, the OGTC and Industry Partners, the NSC will deliver both collaborative and bespoke research and development solutions identified by the Industry Partners.

Reporting to the Vice Principal for Research, the Director of the NSC will be responsible for the leadership and development of the NSC. The Director will collaborate closely with the University, the OGTC and Industrial Partners to ensure the Centre’s success. The person will be responsible for the overall budget of the Centre and for securing new investment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, solutions focused and highly credible individual to lead this exciting initiative at a really important time for the industry.  The Director will have excellent business and communication skills and be comfortable engaging with different stakeholders from industry and universities. The ability to manage multiple work streams, develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships and deliver a challenging work scope against a defined schedule will also be critical.
