About the role

As the business has responded to changes in technology, market demand and customer expectation, their innovation, expansion, and development has in turn helped shape the industry.

The business has not only evolved as a direct result of telecommunications, but their innovative and forward-thinking approach to solving problems for customers has positioned Emtelle as a leading-edge proponent of modern telecommunications and a global market leader in multiple sectors.

Emtelle is a truly global company with over 400 employees worldwide with an ever-expanding customer base in 67 countries, including water supply projects in Scandinavia, power supply and ITS for highway and rail in the UK, irrigation in India, and blown fibre solutions in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

The organisation has gone through a significant period of growth and in the last 4 years, where site revenues in Hawick, Scotland have almost doubled.

Due to the departure of the existing operations leader, the business is looking to appoint a new Factory Manager to lead the manufacturing operation in Hawick.

Key components of the position will include;

  • Responsibility for an approximate headcount of 120, with an additional 60 heads being present onsite, but not reporting directly into the Factory Manager.
  • The site is a 24/7 operation and the Factory Manager will have direct responsibility for site production, health & safety and engineering teams, and build indirect relationships purchasing, planning, commercial and quality functions.
  • Management and engagement with wider business in budgeting and cost plans that feed into Group wide P&Ls.

We are looking to speak to experienced Production leaders, with experience of embedding and driving lean manufacturing principles in complex operational environments. The suitable candidate will have an understanding and accreditation in a related Lean methodology and a track record of operational improvement in a demanding environment. They will possess the inclusive leadership skills required to bring people with them and influence at all levels of an organisation.
