Edinburgh Innovations (EI) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Edinburgh and is responsible for working in partnership across private and public sector to drive benefit for both industry and society in line with the strategic goals of the University.  EI proactively engages with companies and organisations, as well as with academics and students, to ensure access to the right research expertise, technology and facilities in order to facilitate innovation projects and company formation activities.  EI has grown substantially over the last year and is on track to deliver further growth in 2018. 

The Head of Enterprise will have strategic involvement in the direction of the business and will report directly to the CEO of EI and lead a skilled team of c20 people.

The Head of Enterprise will be responsible for:

  • Providing overall leadership, direction and management of EIs company formation, business accelerator and incubation activities
  • Leading and developing the relationships with University of Edinburgh and EI’s internal and external stakeholders and partners (including EI Board, University start-ups, Enterprise and incubation tenants, Angel and VC investors, Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise)
  • Develop and manage licensing activity for EI
  • Manage the University IP exploitation strategy

The Head of Enterprise will design and drive a continuous improvement culture, challenge their team for results and ultimately ensure that EI delivers a professional, high-quality & responsive service to a diverse range of stakeholders and ‘customers’.

The ideal candidate will be an effective, enthusiastic and strategic leader.  We are looking for a credible individual who will be a conduit for change and who is passionate about innovation.  You will ideally have experience of working at a senior management level in a university enterprise, company formation or technology transfer environment or within private sector in technology licensing where you have liaised closely with the academic community.
