Head of HR

About the role

Established in 1895, family-owned Gordon & MacPhail is a malt whisky maturation expert and owner of Benromach Distillery.  The company’s whiskies are enjoyed throughout the world.  Gordon & MacPhail also operates a wholesale business in the United Kingdom selling premium Scotch whiskies and spirits, along with a high quality retail outlet in Elgin.

This is an extremely exciting time for the business. It has a foundation based on 125 years’ experience, unique stocks of whisky, award winning brands, established routes to market, a great team and all coupled with a very positive future ahead of it.

It is moving forward with an ambitious strategy to grow the business and progressing with plans to build a second distillery. To support this growth the company’s structure needs to evolve and, on the back of this, various initiatives will be launched to empower managers, recognise success, improve communications and team working; and enhance the personal development opportunities for all colleagues.

A Head of HR with experience in change and transformation is therefore now sought to help continue this exciting journey. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a track record in implementing organisational change to play a key role in helping to shape the company for the future and ensure that it continues to stand the test of time. This role will drive the development and implementation of a human resources strategy, policies and procedures to support the delivery of the strategic plan.

Specific responsibilities will be for improving people management practices and in delivering initiatives to ensure that Gordon & MacPhail continues to achieve its vision, mission and strategic goals. This will include the design and delivery of frameworks and procedures across talent management, workforce planning, reward and recognition, employee engagement, learning and development.
