For 150 years, the Dobbies name has stood for quality horticulture. During this time, Dobbies has been proud to provide the very best products and expert advice to gardeners throughout the UK. Dobbies now offers much more, with a strategic plan to create experiential retail & leisure centres across the UK.
Dobbies is backed by Midlothian Capital Partners Limited and Hattington Capital LLP and has its Central Support Office located in Lasswade, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Dobbies has 69 centres spread across England and Scotland. Over the last 12 months, Dobbies has been through a period of investment and growth, including the acquisition of 37 centres, which has more than doubled the size of the business.
The primary focus of this appointment will be to own the co-ordination and delivery of investment papers, Board packs and ad hoc investor analysis. The Board and shareholders of the company have high expectations as to the performance of the business, as well as to how progress against the company’s strategic plan is communicated.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive and will work closely with the leadership team and non-executive directors. A key measure will be the candidate’s ability to manage a diverse and complex set of stakeholders in a dynamic growth environment. This will require a high level of confidence and gravitas, as well as a very keen eye for detail.
The ideal candidate is most likely to be a good commercial analyst, who will be able to provide an equal appreciation of financial and non-financial matters. We will consider candidates, ideally both from a Big 4 background and with experience in a corporate finance/transaction support team. The successful candidate will undoubtedly need to be a highflier who has the gravitas and confidence to interact and challenge at the most senior levels, but who also has equal levels of emotional intelligence and pragmatism.
Interested candidates should send their CV, with full remuneration details, to Adam Brown, of FWB Park Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org. For a confidential discussion, please call 0131 539 7087.
