Vice President of Health, Safety and Environmental

About the role

For more than 80 years, Southwestern Energy Company has thrived because of a deep commitment to providing the energy that powers our world. Their success continues to be dependent upon the dedication of their employees to the company and to the communities in which they operate. Southwestern Energy Company is an independent energy company whose wholly-owned subsidiaries are engaged in natural gas, natural gas liquids and oil exploration, development, production, gathering and marketing.

Though they search far beyond their current operating footprint, their work is principally focused on the development of natural gas and natural gas liquids in the Appalachian Basin in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and the exploration of oil and natural gas in other new venture plays in North America.

The company’s commitment to creating value through innovation is evident in their Midstream Services segment, which primarily supports their E&P operations. Midstream Services generates revenue from gathering fees associated with the transportation of natural gas and natural gas liquids to market and through the marketing of their own gas production and some third-party natural gas.

The Health, Safety and Environmental culture is critical to Southwestern Energy’s foundations for everything they do. As the VP of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) for Southwestern Energy (SWN), the candidate will define and drive the strategic and programmatic health, safety and environmental strategies. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and in close partnership with the operational leaders, the VP, HSE will lead the design, enhancement, and implementation of their behavioral principals, technological controls and HSE management systems that will result in year-over-year HSE performance improvements.

The candidate’s leadership and organization directly impacts the ability for all of Southwestern’s employees and business partners to go home safely each and every day, while delivering on their commitments to proactively pursue environmentally responsible practices throughout their operations.
