Former Standard Life Aberdeen Vice Chair Martin Gilbert has been appointed as Chair of The Oil and Gas Technology Centre at a “pivotal time” for the energy industry. OGTC has a crucial role in developing technologies to enable the oil and gas sector to be a valued part of the transition to help deliver a net zero North Sea.

Biotangents is designing the next generation of molecular diagnostics for the veterinary industry. Rachel Mallet, formerly of Global DX, joins as Director of Commercialisation.

Brugal is the international Rum from Dominican Republic and is part of Edrington’s portfolio of brands, which of course also includes The Macallan, Highland Park and The Famous Grouse. Eileen Livingston has been appointed Managing Director – International and joins from Beam Suntory.

Baxters Food Group has appointed Maik Blumentritt as Head of Finance for its European business. Following a regular trip to Scotland visiting family, he found himself unable to return to his home in Switzerland due to lockdown restrictions and decided to explore his longstanding wish to relocate to Scotland. The recruitment process was conducted ‘virtually’ and he has now begun his new role whilst still in lockdown in NE Scotland. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, most recently as Head of Accounting Central Europe West with global building materials company Holcim in Switzerland.

CALA one of the UK’s leading providers of desirable new homes, has appointed Marie Hernandez as Head of HR.  She joins from Whiteflare UK where she was Principal HR and OD Consultant.

The University of Strathclyde has appointed Virginia Beckett as a Lay Member of its Court. She is CEO of Regent Capital plc and a former Director of CBRE.

Chris Mackenzie has joined leading law firm Ledingham Chalmers as Chief Operating Officer. He is a Chartered Accountant with many years’ experience in senior financial and consultancy roles, predominantly within the energy sector. As well as overseeing the firm’s finance, HR, IT and marketing functions, Chris will drive strategic direction as it evolves, grows and responds to a fast-changing legal and commercial marketplace.

Rachel Wood has joined The Law Society of Scotland as Executive Director of Regulation. She joins from major law firm Pinsent Masons where she was their Client and Legal Project Management Lead.

Alice Deakin is the new Executive Director of Learning for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).  She has been running her own consultancy business and is also formerly of Deloitte and Indigo Vision plc.
