Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the initiative inspired by and set up in honour of her father, has appointed Dr Marion Gillooly as Executive Director in the UK. The organisation is a book gifting program that mails free high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income, and this year has handed out its 100 millionth free book. Marion joins from Includem where she was Head of Strategic Development and Innovation.
Douglas Laing has joined William Grant & Sons as Group Operations Finance Director following a very successful career with Robert Wiseman Dairies PLC and then Muller after its acquisition of Wiseman.
Douglas Bain joins M Squared Lasers as Finance Director. This is a multi award-winning high-growth photonics company which designs and engineers high-value laser systems which underpin fundamental scientific research. He was previously UK CFO for Weatherford, the major oil services company.
Iain Reid has joined the Board of Lothian Buses as a Non Executive Director. He is the CEO of the Faculty of Advocates and a Non Executive Director of the James Hutton Institute, having previously been CFO of Sopra Group, Grant Management and National Trust for Scotland.
Jarmo Eskelinen joins the University of Edinburgh as Programme Director, Data Driven Innovation. This initiative is part of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal and aims to help organisations and all our citizens benefit from the data revolution. Jarmo hails from Helsinki and was most recently Chief Innovation & Technology Officer for the Future Cities Catapult in London.
The University of Dundee has appointed Carol Prokopyszyn as Director of Finance. She was most recently Deputy Director of Finance at Loughborough University and has relocated to Scotland to take up the position.
Social Bite is a fantastic organisation which is on a mission to build a collaborative involvement to end homelessness in Scotland. Roz Cuschieri is its new Chair and Morag McNeill has also joined the Board of Social Bite Fund Trustees.
Halspan, one of the world’s leading suppliers of quality door components has appointed Andy Wallace, the former MD of Dryvit UK, as its Managing Director.
Jim Mathieson has been appointed Managing Director of SPACE, the leading workplace consultants and fit-out contractor. Previously he was Group Finance Director at The Morris Leslie Group following a long career with the Galloway Group where he was latterly Managing Director.
The National Timber Group, backed by Cairngorm Capital, and owner of Thornbridge Sawmills, Rembrand Timber, North Yorkshire Timber, and most recently Arnold Laver, is a highly acquisitive business rapidly consolidating its position as the largest independent timber supplier in the UK. John Douglas, formerly of Fine Organics and Whyte & Mackay has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer. Rob Hall has also joined as Head of Operational Business Development following a career with EY and SIG plc.
Evelyn Toma, formerly Managing Director of Re-Tek UK in Glasgow, has joined Eureka Solutions, one of the UK’s leading business systems experts as Managing Director, based in East Kilbride.
Richard Woods has joined Coachhire.com, the innovative transport technology business which is backed by Souter Investments, as Chief Operating Officer. He has a long and successful track record in the transport sector, having worked with Merseybus, Arriva, Glenvale Transport, Stagecoach and City Group Co in Kuwait.
Bridge of Weir Leather, part of the Scottish Leather Group is the UK’s largest manufacturer of leather and supplies a wide range of industries globally including automotive, aviation, bus & coach, rail, marine and contract furniture. It has appointed Graham Andrew as its new Finance Director and has also recently won its fifth Queens Award for International Trade.
Ross Canavan joins Waukesha Bearings Corporation as Head of Supply Chain. Waukesha is part of the global Dover Corporation and is a leading designer and manufacturer of high precision products for high-performing turbomachinery in oil & gas, power generation, marine and industrial markets. He joins from GE Oil & Gas where he was Global S&OP Manager in the Subsea Productions Systems & Services Division.
Vanessa O’Brien is the new Senior Associate Director, Scotland in the Commercial team for CBI Scotland. She joins from Stellar Europe, the voice, web chat, e-mail or tweet behind the brands of some of the largest and most respected companies around the world.
The Scotch Whisky Experience, established in 1988 by 19 individual Scotch whisky companies, has appointed Jamie Marwick as Finance Director and Company Secretary. He was previously Finance Director of Hibernian Football Club.
Edwina Drake has joined Grant Property Management as Associate Director on its Investment Team. She has relocated from London, having previously worked with Douglas & Gordon and also Savills.
MB Aerospace, the US private equity backed international precision engineering group, has appointed Alan McKenna to the role of Group Financial Controller. Alan has joined the business from Macdonald Hotels, having previously worked for Weir Group PLC and Edrington.
Mark Bevan, formerly of Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI), has joined Leuchie House as Chief Executive. Leuchie is an amazing organisation and a national respite centre located in East Lothian providing caring respite breaks for people and their families living with long term conditions.
Four Square has been a major provider of services for homeless and other vulnerable people in Edinburgh and elsewhere in Scotland for 40 years. Jane Devine has joined from Social Work Scotland as Chief Executive. In addition, Roger Seshan, Gill Scott, Andrew Gillies and Alana Nabulsi have also been appointed to the Board as Trustees.
Nairn Black has joined NWH Group, the prominent Recycling and Resource Management business, in the role of Finance Director. He was previously CFO of Parsons Peebles in Rosyth.
Award winning Harviestoun Brewery has made two significant appointments as it strengthens its Board as part of its ambitious growth journey. Peter Sandstrom joins as CMO and International Sales Director from Edrington-Beam Suntory and Kevin Giudici joins from Highland Spring to lead site operations and finance as General Manager and Finance Director.
International Beverage has appointed Cara Chambers as Marketing Director. Cara joins from Baxters Food Group and will be based from Inver House Distillers, the Group’s wholly owned Scotch Whisky subsidiary, leading a portfolio that includes blended scotch whisky, premium single malts, including Old Pulteney, Balblair, Speyburn and anCnoc, as well as Caorunn Gin.
Forfar based technical textiles manufacturer Don & Low has further strengthened its Sales Team through the appointment of Adam Johnson and Amy Hanson, formerly of Klober and of Nexus Vehicle Rental respectively.
Independent Scottish salmon farming company Loch Duart has appointed Cameron Dean, formerly of Weatherford, as its Management Accountant.

John Bell joins from Tesco Bank where he was Head of Culture and Engagement as Head of Culture and Conduct, Peter Ainley-Walker joins as Organisational Change and Transformation Consultant from a consulting background and Paul Blair joins as HR Relationship Manager from Alliance Trust Savings, where he was HR Director.
In a number of other HR appointments; Fiona Gibson joins global drinks business Whyte & Mackay as HR Director, North British Distillery is delighted to welcome two HR Managers as Debbie Berryman joins from Distell and Graeme Coburn from Berner UK and Jo Roger joins The University of Edinburgh as Interim Head of HR Corporate Services. She was previously Interim Head of HR at Registers of Scotland.

Marathon Oil has appointed Dean Wiseman into the newly created role of Behavioural Safety & Human Factors Supervisor, based in Aberdeen.
In support of the creation of two Centres of Excellence for Underwater and Decommissioning, the Oil & Gas Technology Centre has appointed Russell Stevenson, formerly of Worley Parsons, as Industrial Director. Pamela Lomoro also joins as Project Manager, Decommissioning Centre of Excellence, from the International Stress Engineering Centre in Oxford. In addition, Susan Brimmer, former Employee Engagement Director of Wood has been appointed to the OGTC leadership team as People & Organisational Development Manager.
Emad Najjar has joined Emirates Business Group (EBG) as Chief Operating Officer. EBG is one of the leading holding companies in the UAE with over 18,000 employees across a broad spectrum of industries.
Glacier Energy Services provides specialist services, products and engineered solutions for energy infrastructure. It has appointed Matt Pybus, formerly of Babcock International Group, as its new Business Unit Director, Inspection Services.
Pangeo Subsea has appointed Lynne Adu as Vice President Commercial. Pangeo is a Newfoundland based acoustic seabed survey business and Lynne will assume leadership of operations based in Aberdeen. She was previously VP Commercial – UK at Proserv and Director Commercial & HR at Nautronix.
Otto Van Reijendam has joined Simmons & Co, the leading international investment bank for the energy industry, which is part of Piper Jaffray. He has joined the investment banking team in London as Vice President, having previously been with Lazard and Barclays Capital.
Aurum Exploration is a global mineral exploration services business, headquartered in County Meath, Republic of Ireland. Johnny Meehan joins as Operations Director, relocating back to Ireland having formerly been with Ineos Upstream in London.
Superior Energy Services is an oilfield service company focused on serving the drilling, completion and production-related needs of oil and gas companies worldwide. Its subsidiary Pumpco Services offers pressure pumping, fracturing, acidizing and cementing services in some of North America’s largest resource plays and Jeff Lowry has joined as the Director of Sales. His previous positions include Strategic Sales Leader at Universal Pressure Pumping and Senior Account Manager at BJ Services.
Brian Mazeski has joined Altamont Energy as Controller. He previously worked as an E&P Controller for Black Hills Corporation. Altamont is a Houston-based exploration and production company backed by private equity investors including the primary investor, Silverpeak, a New York-based private equity firm.
Ifty Khan has joined Tri-Point Oil & Gas as Regional Vice President of East Texas having previously been with GE Renewable Energy. Tri-Point brings together high-performing, complementary products and services with national-scale infrastructure, centred on oil and gas production and process equipment and services.
TWMA is a global provider of integrated and environmental solutions to the onshore and offshore oil & gas industry and has recently acquired Texas-based Dynamic Oilfield Services. Bruce Sauers has been appointed CFO having previously held similar roles with Patterson-UTI and Archer – the US well management company.
