100 leading HR professionals gathered in the splendour of the Balmoral Hotel to listen to our guest speaker Maria Stanforth, the Group HR and Communications Director of the Selfridges Group. Given its substantial and iconic international business comprising a number of distinct and up market retail brands, Maria delivered a fascinating address focused on “what culture is required to deliver and luxury experience?”
Each of our tables had a designated ‘team captain’ who lead discussions over dinner on particular topics related to Maria’s speech – and then summarised the views of their table to the rest of the group over coffee. They all did this extremely well, but they were amongst friends!
We can say this (because our guests have told us!) but everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and found the company, the speaker and the subject matter really interesting and enjoyable. Thanks also to our own Alix Meekison for being an exuberant and entertaining compere – and of course to Maria for giving up her valuable time to talk to us. Thanks also to Arran Aromatics for supplying some wonderful goody bags for all those who spoke.
