Lead and direct the Human Resource team to deliver a comprehensive HR service to all parts of the business, recognising current best practice and applying it appropriately to the family business that is Walkers Shortbread Limited.

Policies & Procedures

  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are up to date and are in line with current employment law
  • Ensure line managers are fully conversant with the policies and are fully briefed on any changes therein
  • Ensure the organisational culture is aligned with the short and long term objectives of the business


Recruitment & Retention

  • Manage succession planning discussions where required and take overall responsibility for recruitment activities
  • Ensure the wage structure is clearly understood and be involved in annual union wage negotiations

Talent Management

  • Devise, launch and manage people programs to establish the required structure, build the requisite capabilities and embed the required behaviours throughout the organisation to ensure the effective selection, training and performance management of staff
  • Oversee HR talent, capability, processes and tools ensuring they are fit for purpose and add value
  • Implement management leadership programmes and initiatives where required


Performance Management

  • Manage the timetable and content of annual appraisal process, providing feedback to the board, as appropriate
  • Provide coaching to managers on performance management issue and processes where necessary


Employee Relations

  • Manage absence, disciplinary, grievance, sickness processes etc
  • Measure employee satisfaction and identify areas requiring improvement

Training

  • Provide guidance on development for managers and their teams
  • Be fully conversant with the training and development agenda; identify areas that need attention and improvement
