Operations Director

Argent Energy operates in the international energy sector and is poised for significant growth in the UK as well as internationally. They are the UKs leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer. The company is owned by John Swire & Sons (Green Investment) a major international group who have provided investment to facilitate growth which is likely to involve acquisitions as well as start-up projects which will require the construction of new facilities.

As a result of continued growth and following an internal promotion, Argent Energy is looking to appoint an Operations Director. The Operations Director will be based at the Motherwell site and will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team within the business. The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for all operational management, improvements and developments at the Motherwell site and to set stretching but achievable KPIs and drive operational excellence practice. The role will oversee Maintenance, Production, Site Projects, Logistics, Lab and Health Safety & Environment and will have responsibility for a team of c.60 people.

Candidates are likely to have a background in Engineering and the capacity to take on a broader remit than a traditional Site Directors role – with that in mind, we are looking for somebody who is ‘hungary’ for a new challange. Ideally candidates will have a background in engineering in a process industry such as food manufacturing, chemicals, brewing, or similar. They will also thrive in an environment which is changing rapidly and be able to manage successfully in these circumstances.

Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and a practical hands-on approach are essential. This role requires effective communication with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels.
