Regional Finance Director

About the role

Johnson Matthey is a leading speciality chemicals company operating in 30 countries around the world and listed on the FTSE 100 index. The Fine Chemicals Division is a strategic growth area for the business and as a result of this growth, is looking to appoint a Regional Finance Director.

This person will be a key member of the Fine Chemicals Division and will act as a proactive business partner to the regional management team including the business units: Macfarlan Smith Edinburgh, Annan, Portugal and Pharma Solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day financial reporting and control of Pharma Solutions business units based in Cambridge and Royston; management of the regional costs for Fine Chemicals and have oversight of the financial management and reporting in Macfarlan Smith Edinburgh and JM Annan. The incumbent will be focussed on providing a comprehensive financial and accounting function to assist in running the business more efficiently and profitably.

Your key responsibilities will be to support the Managing Director, API businesses, Fine Chemical Europe and the Fine Chemicals European Management Team by providing a full range of financial and accounting advice on which to base commercial and strategic decisions. You will work with the Divisional Finance Director and the wider divisional finance team to provide financial leadership to the division. Specifically you will be responsible for: All financial and accounting reporting for Fine Chemicals in European Region; Reviewing all capital investment proposals, cash flow and working capital reports to ensure effective utilisation of financial resources; Co-ordinating all aspects of the annual budget for the region; Co-ordinating audits and ensuring a strong risk control environment; and ensuring that IT systems related to the accounting function are providing accurate and timely data. In addition you will take a key role in the rollout of the SAP project in the region to ensure a successful transition.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Qualified ACA or CIMA or equivalent accountant preferred
  • Strong experience in a similar role playing an integral part of an international business within a manufacturing background required
  • Integration of acquisitions
  • Possess ERP implementation
  • Must have strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate throughout all levels of the organisation
  • Strong influencing skills while leading and driving change initiatives
  • Possess a strong work ethic
