Leuchie House is a national respite centre and is located in East Lothian, Scotland. As a charity, Leuchie are dedicated to delivering a unique, fully integrated health and social care service, built around their bespoke five-star quality assurance framework based on professionalism, well-being and customer service. The centre offers short breaks to people with 31 different long-term conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s.

The learning and development of Leuchie staff is crucial as they strive to deliver a wide range of opportunities and experiences. Leuchie are delighted to be an official partner of Queen Margaret University in terms of Health and Social Care, research and co-production.

The service provided by its c90 staff and c80 volunteers has been described as life changing, uplifting, unique, valued, loved and precious by its guests, their families and a wide range of stakeholders and supporters. In many ways Leuchie is remarkable.

Since launching in 2011, Leuchie has been led by Mairi O’Keefe MBE who has provided vision, inspiration, energy, drive and passion. Together with her board and colleagues, Mairi is now looking for someone to work closely with her, who will bring an equal measure of commitment and passion, and who will ultimately succeed Mairi. This is a unique opportunity to contribute at a senior level to the delivery and development of an essential service and to steer the direction of the organisation in the years to come; Leuchie aims to be recognised as a ‘national’ respite centre in the future. The role is fully rounded and encompasses both strategic and operational responsibilities.

Suitable candidates are likely to be already working in health and social care and will have significant management experience. Applications would also be welcomed from others who feel that their experience could translate into this environment. Crucially we are seeking interest from candidates who are passionate about working to support Leuchie’s guests and embracing the five star approach which defines the organisation’s ethos. This is not only a fabulous career opportunity but also a life defining one – it will be both demanding and fulfilling.

Leuchie House is located close to the A1 and the main Edinburgh to London rail line and is adjacent to North Berwick which provides excellent connectivity to Edinburgh. It sits in East Lothian which provides an excellent quality of life, with first class schooling, housing and recreational activities.
