Chief Internal Auditor

About the role

Our client is an Edinburgh based financial services provider specialising in pensions, investments and insurance with their mission in helping people achieve a lifetime of financial security. With products designed for individuals and business customers, these are available through financial advisers or via employers in the case of workplace pensions which service their three million plus customers.

As a key member of the leadership team the Chief Internal Auditor directs and leads an effective internal audit framework across the business. You will be responsible for key internal audit and senior management relationships, in particular with the Chief Executive and the Chair of the Group Audit Committee.

You will contribute to business effectiveness by providing insight and advice on business risks and internal control systems, including key organisational change programmes and projects.

In addition to exceptional leadership and advisory skills we are looking for candidates with significant experience across a range of areas including:

  • Strategic understanding and insight into the financial services industry, with particular emphasis on the challenges and opportunities associated with achieving success for a market leading long-term savings group
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks and regulatory requirements along with internal auditing standards, processes, tooling and approaches including the UK CIIA Code of Practices for Financial Services.
  • Proven experience of leading a significant Internal Audit or similar function, with experience at senior / Board level in a regulated business.

We would love to hear from you have a strong passion for leadership along with robust influencing and strategic thinking skills. The ability to demonstrate commercial awareness along with strong financial and commercial acumen will be needed in order to succeed whilst remaining customer centric at the core of all decisions.
