About the role

Headquartered in Edinburgh, Cairn Energy PLC is an independent oil & gas exploration, development and production company. Cairn’s exploration activities have a geographical focus in North West Europe, West Africa and Latin America, underpinned by interests in production assets in the UK North Sea. These activities are supported by operational offices in London and Mexico.

Cairn have actively acquired exploration acreage in a number of new counties in recent years and following the recent exit of their interests in Senegal, Ireland, Nicaragua as well as the sale of their Norwegian business, there exists opportunity to continue to develop and grow the asset portfolio. In line with their ambitions to have a balanced portfolio across exploration, development and production interests, the organisation seeks to bolster their commercial resource.

The Commercial & Negotiations Advisor will be responsible for providing guidance and insight on commercial issues and negotiations across Cairn’s asset portfolio, in new ventures and in business development. Working in collaboration with functional expertise, the appointee will provide end to end commercial support to the business, providing advice on investment opportunities, developing value propositions, undertaking due diligence, developing negotiation strategies and closing transactions.

Candidates must have previous experience in a similar advisory role, preferably gained in the upstream oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in in evaluating and negotiating acquisitions and divestments, host government licenses, joint venture agreements and third-party agreements.
