Digital Product Owner

About the role

Whether it is playing the Old Course online or at TopGolf facilities around the world, interacting with innovative digital content on your mobile device or simply booking that first memorable experience in St Andrews, the Home of Golf is becoming ever more digitally enabled.

Technology is so vital in golf, permeating all aspects of the modern game for professionals and amateurs. As part of an exciting digital transformation, the goal for St Andrews Links Trust is simple – to bring golfers, customers and fans closer to the Home of Golf through a variety of digital platforms.

The aim is to deliver unique and memorable experiences for the Trusts’ broad spectrum of customers, both onsite and from wherever they are in the world. In doing so, the Trust hopes to engage with golfers, customers and fans whilst continuing the Links’ proud history of being the most accessible public golf venue and brand in the world.

‘St Andrews – the Home of Golf’ is recognised as one of the most iconic venues in sport. The Links Trust, operating as an independent charitable trust, has ownership of the brand and promotes golf, St Andrews and Scotland to a worldwide audience. With global business partnerships, fantastic ambition and exciting commercial opportunities within the organisation, revenue streams are driven largely through golf revenue, retail, hospitality, merchandising, royalties and commercial licencing arrangements.

The evolution of the Digital Transformation Programme has created the opportunity for a highly strategic Digital Product Owner (DPO) to join the organisation. The DPO will be responsible for the digital vision and strategy across a range of innovative digital products including, but not limited to, site, eShop, golf booking platform and mobile applications.

The DPO will own and evolve the digital roadmap, ensuring the implementation of a platform ecosystem whilst working with agile and non-technical teams to ensure business requirements are met. He or she will play a key role in managing business change and influencing internal and external stakeholders in their adoption of new technologies. Additionally, the DPO will oversee a team of Sponsor Users across multiple functions, steering product direction, consistency of delivery and process optimisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of St Andrews Links Trust digital roadmap and transformation programme
  • Lead agile delivery teams to prioritise activity and take business-led decisions to fulfil the digital vision
  • Manage relationships with third parties to ensure all business requirements are satisfied, platforms implemented and successfully integrated
  • Research and identify opportunities for digital excellence and the application of technologies to improve on-site and global customer experience
  • Lead the transformation planning and governance function, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and involved throughout

We are looking to appoint an extremely bright, commercial and highly credible digital transformation professional, with excellent communication skills and the experience to innovate, drive change and add value in all areas of the business. The DPO will have experience of leading agile delivery teams and bring expertise in strategic road mapping and business change best practice.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a strong track record in project planning, reporting and governance, with the gravitas to drive change and influence senior stakeholders. We are open on sector background but some exposure to sports, entertainment venues and other products/services with a strong focus on customer experience and interaction will be highly attractive.

Strong leadership within St Andrews Links Trust, clear business goals, an ambition to think big and build for the future all make this an extremely exciting time to join the business. The potential for growth is not restricted by geographic boundaries. Accordingly, we are happy to offer entirely remote or hybrid working arrangements for this role, with some travel required.

Interested candidates should send their CV, with full remuneration details, to Graham Burns of FWB Park Brown at applications@fwbparkbrown.com. For a confidential conversation, please call 0131 539 7087.
