About the role

Interface – The knowledge connection for business www.interface-online.org.uk provides companies with a central point of access to the expertise available in Scotland’s Universities, Research Institutes and Colleges. The core mission is “to enable business-academic collaborations for economic and societal benefit”.

We are looking for an exceptional and ambitious individual to lead and develop Interface hosted by Edinburgh Innovation Ltd and reporting to the Chair of the Interface Strategic Board.

 

The Opportunity:

The Director provides proactive leadership for the ongoing strategic development and delivery of Interface.   Working closely with and reporting to the Chair of the Interface Strategic Board, the Director acts as an organisational ambassador leading the development and implementation of strategic and operational approaches which increases collaboration between Scottish academic partners and end users including private, public and third sectors, thus enhancing Interface’s economic and societal impact.

The post holder proactively engages with Interface Strategic Board members and public sector funders in the planning, performance and governance of Interface alongside leading exemplar business engagement and service delivery by a high performing team.

You will have extensive strategic level experience operating at Board level, of building relationships, collaborative partnerships and facilitating collaborative working across a range of stakeholders.  You will have a passion for knowledge exchange, innovation, continuous improvement and a track record in implementing best practices in governance.

 

Your skills and attributes for success:

Professionally qualified/relevant degree or equivalent, plus extensive experience operating at a strategic management level

Distinctive track record of high achievement at Director level or equivalent in a similarly complex system, ideally with some exposure to the complexities of operating within a University / College setting.

Proven experience in leading the development and delivery of innovative, strategic and commercial concepts and plans, ideally at both a system and organisational level for private or third sectors.
