Director – Oil & Gas Institute

About the role

The University of Strathclyde’s Oil & Gas Institute provides a focus for Strathclyde’s engagement in this sector and is key to supporting the University’s position as a leading international technological university.

An outstanding Director is now being sought to lead the strategic development and operational delivery of the Institute and to work in partnership with key industry, academic and other stakeholders to grow the programme of University and industry research, knowledge exchange and post-graduate initiatives. The timing could not be more crucial as the detail of the UK Government’s recent energy bill focuses on extending the life of the UKCS which will require even more innovative technology to ensure that aging assets can be operated safely while managing costs in a low oil price environment.  Strathclyde’s Oil & Gas Institute has a key role to play in partnering with the industry at this critical time.

Suitable candidates will have extensive leadership experience within the oil and gas sector, demonstrating professional development through a series of progressively more demanding and influential work roles.  They must also have a proven ability to influence and shape strategic and operational delivery and a track record of delivering substantial multi–disciplinary technological projects, using multi-disciplinary teams.  As a strategic thinker, they will also have the ability to identify, develop and seek funding for new opportunities in the sector.  Naturally the expectation is that candidates will have personal credibility and gravitas and the skill to work collaboratively, fostering relationships and influencing a broad range of internal and external partners nationally and internationally.

Remuneration will reflect the importance of this appointment.
