The Law Society of Scotland is the professional body for Scottish solicitors. The current aim is to lead legal excellence through its aim to become a world-class professional body. Established in 1949 and largely financed by members, the Law Society not only regulates and represents all practicing Scottish solicitors but also has an important duty towards the public interest.

A new 5 year strategy was launched in 2015 with ambitious goals through to 2020. In order to help deliver this strategy and vision for 2020, The Law Society is looking to fill the vacancy for an Executive Director of Member Services & Engagement.

This role reports to the Chief Executive and will involve delivery of the Society’s strategic aims and objectives including the design, development and selling of services which are tailored to existing members’ needs and to drive new categories of membership, increasing commercial revenue both in the UK and internationally.

The planned growth of the Society and their clear focus on analysing the expectations of members to ensure that they are constantly adapting to meet new demands as a service provider, gives this role very compelling features and, as such, is a very attractive opportunity. This role represents a unique opportunity to contribute to the ongoing transformation of a successful and well respected professional association with further growth potential.

We are looking for candidates with a strong track record in delivery of membership or commercial services and of demonstrable growth in that environment. A strong leader with significant people skills, a commercial focus and experience of working closely with a Board will be required. Experience in developing digital based services would also be a strong advantage.

Candidates could come from a membership driven organisation, or indeed, from a professional services background such as accountancy or legal practice where they have been working in a Commercial or Business Development capacity.

Further information is available by downloading the candidate brochure.

To apply please send your CV and current remuneration details to Ailsa Sutherland at FWB Park Brown at fwb@fwbparkbrown.com, or call her to discuss further on 0131 539 7087.
