Since 1989, we have enabled our customers to invest in their futures by delivering secure, accurate and efficient assessment, payment and repayment services.

SLC have an exciting opportunity for an Executive Director of Change, Data and Repayments to join our Senior Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving and delivering the strategy and performance of our Change, Data and Repayments functions through the effective leadership of the directorate’s senior management team. The postholder will have direct oversight of SLC’s annual change portfolio (circa £80 million), delivery of SLC’s data and strategy and the running and improvement of the Repayments operations critical business functions, including activities relating to servicing of Government loan sales.

Effective stakeholder management is key to this role as the Executive Director will be responsible for maintaining strong working relationships with Government stakeholders including the Department for Education, HMRC, HM Treasury, Office for Students, Integrated Payment Authority and other relevant bodies. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for setting governance and assurance standards for project delivery across the Change portfolio whilst identifying and managing risks and issues in delivery as the accountable SRO for major programmes of change on behalf of SLC.

What you bring:

  • Experience of operating at Executive / Upper Senior Management level or equivalent, either in the public or commercial sectors.
  • Proven track record of implementing major, sustainable change in a complex and regulated environment, with specific experience in the delivery of impactful digital transformations and / or product development.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams of real scale and complexity whilst demonstrating initiative to deliver significant business improvement through the creation of high performing teams.
  • Broad and demonstrable experience of strategic, financial and business planning whilst leading the strategic and day to day business of operational teams.
  • Significant understanding of the data and analytics landscape, setting strategy and leading change.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
