Scottish Water is the UK’s fourth largest water company serving over 5 million customers across Scotland. That makes it the biggest customer facing business in the country. It’s vision is to be trusted – trusted to care for the water on which Scotland depends and trusted to serve Scotland.
The Director of External Communications is one of an eight member Executive Team led by the Chief Executive and will have a shared responsibility for the overall leadership and continuing success of Scottish Water and is therefore a key strategic appointment.
The role will report to the Chief Executive and will be responsible for the development and implementation of Scottish Water’s external communications strategy, raising the profile of and trust in the Scottish Water brand. Specifically this will include building:
- the external positioning of the company as a business that is trusted by customers, communities and stakeholders
- a strong and supportive landscape among MSP’s, MP’s, local authorities and the media of Scottish Water as a can-do business at the heart of Scottish life
Candidates will be experienced practitioners in their field, ideally with experience of organisations of scale, with a customer focus and of influencing politicians, regulators and political commentators. They will also be able to demonstrate having built high performing teams and exercising strong judgement and decision-making skills.
