About the role

Business Stream is Scotland’s leading business water supplier.  Currently employing over 300 people and with a turnover of approx. £360m, they are a modern, dynamic and fast moving company that is growing all the time.  They put the customer at the heart of their business to ensure that they deliver the best customer service  at all times.  Offering a wide range of services, from supporting developers with their new connections, trade effluent billing and smart metering to meter reading and timely, accurate bills, their aim is to help customers understand their water use, save money and protect the environment.

By engaging with customers to find solutions that fit their businesses, Business Stream has helped customers save over £100 million on their water bills.  In terms of water, that’s a saving of over 20 billion litres and in terms of carbon, a saving of 34,000 tonnes.  That’s also the equivalent of taking 9,692 cars off the roads. Business Stream works with all types of customers from the SME sector to companies like Coca Cola, Tesco and BAE Systems to saving them money, time and water resources.

Following the promotion of the existing Finance Director to CEO they now seek to recruit a commercially focussed and experienced Finance Director who will be responsible for leading the finance function, and supporting the CEO on a daily basis as well as being responsible for credit management, pricing and business intelligence.  He/she will be responsible for leading and managing a multi-disciplinary finance team in a fast changing, competitive environment to support business needs.

The FD will be a key member of a dynamic leadership team who constantly challenge the norm in what has been a traditional sector, bringing fresh ideas and a new approach to the customer experience.  The business has consistently shown double digit growth and this is a massive opportunity to be part of one of the largest growth businesses based in Scotland, helping to shape the future of the industry in order to ensure that they stay the market leader.

This role will suit a strong Finance Director who is driven by the challenges it presents.  Someone who is a self-starter, commands respect and has the presence to operate effectively across the business.  An important factor will be the ability to influence at all levels both internally and externally, key contacts include the banks, professional advisors, Scottish Water and customers.  Candidates will also have strong leadership skills and a track record in developing high performing teams.  It is essential that the FD is commercially orientated and is driven to deliver successful, pragmatic solutions for the business.
