The Opportunity

This position is a requirement for a highly experienced, focused, and driven Health and Safety Professional to assume the new role of Group HSE Manager. The appointed candidate will be responsible for assuring compliance in line with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO 450001 ISO 5001.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the main purpose of this role is to lead and drive health and safety activities across the group (concentrating initially on both UK Factories). To provide expert leadership and advice in safety, health, environmental and risk management measures across the activities of the group, ensuring “Best in Class “environmental and health and safety standards are met and a continuously improving trend is established.

Their remit will be to “root, and branch” create and establish and drive strategy, methodology, systems, processes, and personnel to achieve this. They will drive continuous improvement by using expertise and methodologies, whilst maintaining KPI targets, and high standards of Health, Safety & Environmental compliance, and impact.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We are looking for a passionate and forward-thinking health & safety leader to join the business with the ability to win the hearts and minds of people, influencing and inspiring those around them, bringing a mix of rigour and attention to detail and the interpersonal skills to drive improvement on a continual basis.

Whilst not exhaustive, the successful candidate will also possess most of the following;

  • Graduate degree and/or strong experience in a relevant engineering discipline would be advantageous
  • NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualified or equivalent accreditation and COSHH training is essential
  • Experience operating in a multi-site manufacturing / engineering environment, with knowledge and application of lean manufacturing principles
  • Expert knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and quality standards including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO4500 and ISO50001
  • A track record of achieving and building a “Best in Class” culture of health, safety and environmental policy in a complex organisation
  • A proactive, engaging and motivational leadership style with the ability to influence all parts of an organisation
