Where possible, all business processes need to be computerised to create efficiencies and increase the level of customer service. Customer service excellence lies right at the heart of the business and the Group IT Director will share this passion. The successful candidate will have a relentless focus on standards and attitude to customer service will be part of this, but ultimately delivery and increases in efficiency across the business will be the measure of success, freeing people right across the business to deliver their roles better. At any given time, the IT function will be responsible for delivering around eight major projects such as the imminent CRM upgrade, as well as working through hundreds of initiatives that the business has requested.

The new Group IT Director will first and foremost be a fantastic leader who can develop the team and build a well-respected, forward looking and resilient IT function. They will work at pace and aim to deliver excellent customer service to the business and its customers. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of running a service within a business and creating a proactive function that contributes on a level footing with the other functions. Experience of working across remote businesses, of which there are nine independent regions,  would also be useful, personally getting out into the business and making sure that the team are visible, understanding what the issues are on the ground. The successful candidate will have the balance of seniority and gravitas but also interest in the detail and the ability to be “hands-on” enough to shape the team and understand the challenges at a granular level.

It is obvious that CALA continue to deliver highly ambitious plans and that this is an exciting opportunity for a talented senior leader.
