FWB Park Brown are delighted to be advising on this appointment  to secure a  Head of Sustainability to lead the Group’s road to carbon zero and all related activities.

Overview of the Role:

The Arnold Clark Group are seeking a highly commercial and robust leader who has either a particular interest in Sustainability or has carved out a career within Sustainability and has made an impact in their previous roles. They will be self-propelling, good at forming relationships and will relish the additional pressure and spotlight on the Sustainability agenda. Taking responsibility for the whole plan and generating new ideas and potential revenue streams for the group. With 11,000 employees and an annual turnover in excess of over £3bn, this is a unique opportunity to work as part of a strong leadership team to deliver their Sustainability objectives and realise the potential for the Group.

The successful candidate will have the ability to support the CEO and Board to act as a consultant and subject matter expert on Sustainability – emerging trends, legislation and innovations.

This role is a member of the Head Office Leadership Team and stakeholders will include:

  • Board of Directors
  • Employee focus groups
  • Operational Leaders

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the CEO to ensure that the business remains informed and at the front of all Sustainability programmes and innovations
  • Leading and driving focus group activities across the organisation to weave Sustainability through all working practices
  • Ownership of the full Sustainability agenda and ownership of all internal and external relationships in this area
  • Board reporting and analysis of trends and relevant activities

The Person:

This position requires the successful candidate to be able to influence the business, gaining consensus on priorities and projects, whilst taking employees up to board level on the Sustainability journey. Adapting and developing the Sustainability strategy in line with the changing external landscape will be crucial, ensuring that they remain ahead of incoming legislation as well as ensuring they are market leading in their sector.

The candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic about promoting sustainability. They will also be confident, articulate and resilient in their approach, with the ability to apply sustainability principles in a commercially focussed manner.

We welcome applicants from a broad spectrum of backgrounds who have demonstratable experience in sustainability you will be educated to degree level and have held a senior role in a large and fast paced organisation.

Location

This role can be based anywhere in the UK with frequent travel to Glasgow HQ.
