Job Role
You are joining Twig at an exciting time when we are developing a new HR function for the company to support business growth and the wellbeing of its people. You will provide business as usual advice and support to staff and managers on all HR processes. Reporting directly to the Director of HR, you will support the team in implementing the newly developed HR strategy, streamlining all HR processes and systems and developing an HR service level agreement. You will play a significant part in the development of HR systems solutions and processes to provide a consistent and high quality end user experience.
In order to be successful in the role, you must have considerable experience in an HR advisory and administration role including HR systems. You must be able to apply your knowledge of employment law and experience to advise confidently on all employee relations cases. You will be expected to work autonomously and at the same time collaborate with the team and ensure consistency of approach. You must be able to support staff and managers on all employee lifecycle stages including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and offboarding. You will be able to display empathy and resilience. You will also be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships based on trust and respect while challenging constructively.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and support Twig employees and managers in line with employment legislation, policies and best practice on a range of people issues, including conflict resolution, equalities and reward
- Provide advice, support and administration to managers in absence management and employee relations
- Assist managers at all stages of recruitment including preparation of job descriptions, advertising, online applications, arranging assessments and job offers to ensure good and consistent experience of all end users
- Develop and continuously improve the employee onboarding process which facilitates high engagement and performance
- Support and coach line managers to effectively manage their teams using HR policies, processes and systems
- Work closely with Payroll colleagues to ensure database and pay is accurate and there is an audit trail
- Process all employee lifecycle administration including new starts, movers, leavers, contract changes, etc.
- Develop and improve the HR system (currently People HR)
- Lead and assist on HR policy development and review to ensure they are legally complaint and conducive to high performance
- Work as part of a small HR team to streamline and improve HR processes to ensure they are effective, efficient and consistent
- Independently manage and prioritise a diverse workload
- Frequently work on own initiative and use judgment
Skills and Experience
- A professional HR degree or working towards one
- CIPD membership or equivalent substantial HR experience
- A minimum of 5 years generic HR experience
- Strong understanding of the UK employment legislation
- Ability to apply practical solutions which are legally compliant
- Ability to facilitate difficult conversations and manage conflict resolution
- Proven HR administration skills
- Numeracy skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent influencing skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to work on own initiative and use judgment
- Strong organisational and prioritising skills
- Ability to develop positive working relationships in context of having to provide constructive challenge

It is expected that the post holder will be based in the Glasgow office for a minimum of three days per week. Homeworking will be allowed for the remaining two days with the postholder being responsible for ensuring they have a suitable working space which supports high performance.
