STV is a growth business with a clear and ambitious strategy and track record of delivering its targets. But more than that, STV is a company that truly connects with its audiences; reaches communities right across the country with its work around child poverty, diversity, sustainability and mental wellbeing; works closely with the business community to help it grow; and provides a relevant news and current affairs offering for the people of Scotland.
It is also a hugely ambitious organisation, with STV Studios going from strength to strength, with productions for broadcasters and global streamers such as Apple TV+ and discovery+ underway, and a streaming service, STV Player, that continues to grow in both content and viewers.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional Legal Director & Company Secretary who will become a key member of the management board, reporting to the CEO, and working closely with the Chairman in relation to the company secretarial and corporate governance requirements of the role.
Partnering with stakeholders and colleagues across STV Group plc, the postholder will provide legal and strategic counsel to the Management Board and across the operational areas of the Group’s activities, delivering timely, effective outcomes on all legal, governance, compliance and data issues, projects, and initiatives.
You will be a qualified solicitor, with a minimum of 10 years’ PQE in practice and in-house which includes extensive prior experience in listed companies, and experience of regulated contexts in the media sector, ideally in TV and/or production. Previous experience as company secretary in a listed company context is also a key requirement.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of entertainment and media law; IP rights; data protection and information laws; rights exploitation and ideally some working knowledge of emerging business models of digital/streaming services.
We are looking for a dynamic, commercial, confident self-starter who is comfortable operating in a flat, non-hierarchical structure and willing to turn their hand to a diverse range of work to support all areas of the Group’s activities.
