Managing Director, Tecniplast UK

About the role

Established in 1949, Tecniplast is the global benchmark for preclinical research equipment and related products and services.  The company offers a comprehensive product portfolio, ranging from housing systems to laminar flow cabinets, aquatic solutions to washing equipment, automations to decontamination services, all tied together by logistics products, monitoring and analysis platforms.

The global Head Office is in Italy and the Group has facilities in UK, France, Germany, USA, Canada, China, Australia and Japan.  Their global presence is based on a network of nearly 70 international representatives, all over the world.

The UK business is headquartered near Kettering with 60 employees and has been operating since 1997.

The Managing Director will lead the business in the UK and Ireland.  They will build close relationships with customers ensuring their needs are heard, understood and served by every Tecniplast UK employee.

The new MD will be part of, and report to, the Tecniplast UK Board of Directors and will be responsible for the P&L of the business and for the definition and achievement of the equipment and service sales budgets in the UK and Ireland.

Candidates should have strong skills in the following areas:

  • Sales and Marketing – leading and supervising the preparation and review of the pricing for products and services; frequent high-level interaction with clients
  • Planning and Administration – developing annual plans and evaluation and regular reporting on their progress; manage the Profit & Loss to consolidate the company revenues and assure profitability as per business plan
  • HR Management – recruitment and retention of a strong team; lead by empowering the team with performance management programs and improvement systems; adopt employee development & training programs
  • Financial Management – preparation of annual budgets, regular variance statements and annual audit; ensure overall financial health of the company in accordance to recommendations/requirements of the European business; oversee effective credit management; provide regular financial reporting to the European headquarter office

We are looking for an experienced Managing Director with a strong commercial background and a focus on the UK & Ireland.  Experience in the sales of equipment for the life sciences/pharma/health care markets could be beneficial but is not essential.  As much of Tenicplast’s business is via tender in the public sector, experience of working within this area would be highly attractive.
