Chief Executive

About the role

Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) is the representative body for Scotland’s financial services industry.  It’s member companies range in size from global organisations headquartered in Scotland to small, locally-based support companies drawn from all areas of financial services.

The diversity of it’s membership reflects Scotland’s position as a leading European financial centre; second only to London in the UK.  The industry makes a significant contribution to the Scottish economy, accounting for up to one in every ten jobs in Scotland.  Members account for over 80 per cent of individuals employed within the Scottish financial services industry: well over 200,000 people employed directly and indirectly.

SFE’s chief priorities are:

  • Influence government, regulators and other policy-makers in Scotland, Westminster and Brussels to ensure an internationally-competitive business environment for the industry.
  • Promote greater awareness, understanding and support for Scotland’s financial services industry among politicians, the media and the wider community.
  • Support debate, innovation and the sharing across the industry of experience and insight to encourage continued international growth and collaboration.

A new Chief Executive is now sought to replace Owen Kelly OBE who has successfully held the post since 2008.  Applications are invited from those who feel they have the knowledge, experience and gravitas to lead an influential organisation which represents one of Scotland’s major sectors throughout the UK and internationally.
