Our client, First Milk, is the UK’s only major dairy company that is 100% owned by British family farms. The business supplies the retail, foodservice and milk markets with a wide range of dairy products and ingredients in the UK and internationally. We are looking to appoint a Site Manager for the Campbeltown & Arran sites.
The Campbeltown Creamery is home to the award winning Mull of Kintyre cheddar and the iconic Scottish brand, Scottish Pride. As well as a range of cheeses, the creamery also manufactures butter as part of the Scottish Pride range and whey by-products. The Torrylinn Creamery on Arran produces an award-winning Isle of Arran Cheddar. The Torrylinn creamery and its cheese makers remain true to the traditional handcrafted methods of cheese making today just as they did when the creamery first opened its doors in 1946. The Campbeltown site employs around 30 people and Arran employs 6 people.
The Site Manager will have complete oversight of the 2 sites and will put in place longer term plans supporting delivery of the business goals as well as leading operational improvements in terms of safety, quality and efficiency supporting further commercial growth. First Milk is committed to a continuous improvement programme underpinned with a long term capital investment plan, targeted at increased quality and efficiency whilst driving down costs.
It is crucial that candidates are able to evidence current senior level technical, production and operational experience, ideally within the food manufacturing sector, although brewing and other related areas will be considered. Demonstrable successful leadership is crucial, with the passion, drive and ambition to lead and develop the site teams to the common goals of improvements to production, driving down costs, improving quality in line with customer expectations and creating a positive health and safety culture and performance. As the site leader it is essential that you have the gravitas and experience to provide the site with clear operational leadership and direction as well as engaging with the relevant stakeholders internally and externally.
As a successful leader it’s likely you will have the following:

This role represents an opportunity to join and lead 2 established sites for First Milk with full responsibility for operational delivery. The sites employ a positive, loyal and experienced work force with strong technical experience and so this role is focussed on enhancing the site’s capability both from an operational delivery point of view and from a commercial growth perspective.
