About the role

Four Square has been a major provider of services for homeless and other vulnerable people in Edinburgh and elsewhere in Scotland for 40 years. The name Four Square represents the four areas where it provides services: Accommodation and Support, Advice and Advocacy, Learning and Employability, and Enterprise and Sustainability. Recently the organisation has merged with another registered charity “Keymoves” who has been providing emergency accommodation in Edinburgh for over 100 years.

Four Square are recruiting up to three new Board Members and are looking for individuals whose knowledge and experience will both complement and add new knowledge and perspective to the current Board of Directors.

Whilst Four Square recognise that everyone has the ability to contribute, they are specifically looking for knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • legal, particularly contract law
  • relevant social policy, campaigning or research experience
  • social care or social work, ideally qualified and practising
  • commissioning of contracts
  • submitting and winning competitive tenders for contracts, ideally in a relevant field

The Board of Directors meets bi-monthly, generally at the Edinburgh offices. The Directors may be asked to join additional committees and meet on other occasions to discuss specific items of business or to attend training.  An induction programme and training will be provided. This is a voluntary role but reasonable expenses will be met.

If you are motivated to support the work and contribute to the strategic direction of this ambitious organisation and can demonstrate a passion and commitment that matches our own, we would like to hear from you.
