Scale Up Dinner with Coutts

FWB Park Brown are delighted to have partnered alongside Coutts once again in hosting the second of our 2022 Scale Up dinner series.

Coutts beautiful office space at Marischal Square provided stunning views across the heart of Aberdeen and we were joined by a number of the North East’s rapidly growing businesses and brilliant entrepreneurs, as well as critical supporters of the scale-up ecosystem.

The discussion was kicked off by Hugh Little, our Speaker and Chair for the evening, who talked candidly about his own experience of working closely with entrepreneurs and high-growth companies, throughout his corporate and non-executive portfolio career, and also as a serial investor himself.

Hugh shared practical advice for navigating the scale-up journey and preparing for the shift from start-up to growth, taking into consideration not only the business journey ahead, but also the personal development required from those leading. Key to this was the theme of connection – take advice, surround yourself with other entrepreneurs who are further along the journey than you may be, talk with advisors and with individuals who have successfully concluded their entrepreneurial journey.

The group contributed openly their own start-up and scale-up stories, the successes, the challenges they face and how they have overcome setbacks. There was a real sense of connection round the table – everyone agreeing that ‘gut instinct’ needs to be paired with ‘grit’ and perseverance to build what starts as a humble idea, into a commercial success.

We were extremely pleased to have hosted a fantastic table of guests and can’t thank Hugh and our co-hosts Coutts enough for their time, energy and support.
